2nd Annual District Governor Elect Reception

On January 24, Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club held their 2nd Annual District Governor Elect Reception for DGE Dr. Reynaldo (Rey) David at the Holiday Inn in Buena Park, CA, US.

Serving as our emcee, President Elect Celly Adamo opened the meeting. After an invocation by Benita Delfin, EJ the DJ, son of Ernie and Benita Delfin, played the United States and the Philippines national anthems. After Past President Ernie Delvin, gave a brief history of our e-club and introduced our guests as well as our members, we recessed for dinner.

After dinner, District Governor-Elect Kevin Padilla from our local Rotary District gave our attendees an Orange County welcome. Frank Adamo then introduced our distinguished District Governor Elect, Dr. Reynaldo (Rey) David, a cosmetic surgeon in practice since 1988. He is a fellow of the Philippine Society of General Surgeons and a diplomat of the Philippine Board of Surgery. He is the past president of the Philippine Academy of Aesthetic Surgery. He also is a qualified member of the America n Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He is a fellow for numerous affiliations including the Philippine College of Surgeon, Philippine Society of General Surgeon, Philippine and American Academies of Surgery, Philippine and American Academies of Liposuction Surgery, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Academy of Aesthetic Surgery.

Dr. David is also well versed in Rotary. He was president of the Rotary Club of Timog in 2007-08. Where he was the recipient of the Most Outstanding Club President and the Most Outstanding Club awards.

He then chaired the Discon in 2010. In the same year, he was also an Assistant Governor and the Assistant Foundation Chair. In 2011 and 2012, he was the District Chairman for Membership Development.

Our speaker is an 8 time, Paul Harris Fellow. For those reading this and who are not Rotarians, a member becomes a Paul Harris Fellow after contributing $1, 000 to the Rotary Foundation. Dr. David has done this 8 times.

At the club level, he was the Most Outstanding Rotarian for 3 consecutive years, from 2009 to 2012 and the district's Most Outstanding Rotarian, during the 2010-2011 Rotary year. Finally, he will be our District 3780 Governor for the 2015-2016 Rotary year. After his motivational keynote address, DGE Dr. David inducted our newest member, Aldrich (Ali) C. Famisaran.

Our final presentation was given by Zoot Velasco, an actor and member of the Fullerton Rotary Club. He gave a very interesting and enlighening presentation on Paul Harris, founder of Rotary, and the beginning of our organization. Immediately after, DGEs Dr. Rey David and Keven Padilla answered a few questions about Rotary during a short open discussion.

Before closing, Bonnie Munar announced a list of activities scheduled for the remainder of the Rotary year including

  1. General membership luncheon in Long Beach on February 21

  2. Pechanga Casino Fundraising Trip for Gawad Kalingain March

  3. Eco-Waste Fundraising in Fountain Valley in April or May

  4. Induction of New Officers/MembersDinner Reception on July 11

  5. Attend District 5320 District Conference, May 1 - 3

President Elect Celly Adamo then gave closing remarks and adjourned the meeting. Though we had adjourned and scheduled for dancing most of us carried on various discussions for an hour or two. We had a very informational and productive meeting.
