Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, May 31 through Saturday June 6, 2015. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines,
Inspiration
"Community service has taught me all kinds of skills and increased my confidence. You go out there and think on your feet, work with others and create something from nothing. That's what life's all about" ~ Andrew Shue
Isn't this one of the major benefits of serving others, i.e.
Rotary 4-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.
Sing-Along Song - I've been Working on the Railroad
Take your time and sing-along with Michael Row the Boat Ashore (wherever you may be) and brother, lend a helping hand. For your information. "Lend a Hand" was the Rotary International theme a few years ago.
Program
Last week, Frank Adamo posted the following on GKeRC-Members.
Each week, we recite the following Stewardship Prayer in church:
God my creator, you made me all that I am and gave me all that I have. Help me show my gratitude by using these gifts to serve others in your name.
Jesus my Redeemer, you taught me the way to eternal life by your example of loving service to others. Grant me the Courage to respond to your call to Discipleship by following in your footsteps.
Holy Spirit of God, be with me as I choose each day to put you first in my life. Let me be a model of Christian Stewardship so others will come to know you through my actions.
I pray, dear Lord, that you open the minds and hearts of all the men, women and young people of our parish, that we may joyfully accept your challenge to be good stewards.
Amen
Though Rotary is secular in nature, i.e. all encompassing regardless of religion, I thought the Stewardship Prayer might be appropriated because we are stewards of God whenever we commit to Service Above Self.
Regardless of our personal faith and to paraphrase the Stewardship Prayer, let us strive to be stewards of God through Rotary. Let us be a model of stewardship in Rotary so others can come to know Rotary through our actions.
We have Dr. Kathleen Patterson, Professor in the School of Business and Leadership at Regent University and Director, hosted by SynerVision Leadership Foundation, who will discuss how leaders serve.
Club Business
At our monthly meeting Saturday, May 30, Chuck suggested we have June's monthly meeting at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. Chuck also requested we assist with a project he participated in last year, the Organization for the Physically Impaired. Celly announced her officers for the 2015-16 year and suggested schedule a Planning Meeting for our July 2015 to June 2016 Rotary year. Later in the evening, she sent out an email that we will have the planning meeting on Sunday, June 14 from 2 to 6 at the Delfin's Hacienda. The meeting was also posted on our calendar and our GKeRC-Meetings Facebook Group. Celly also suggested that we adjust our dues to realistic expectations, an issue which will be taken up by our board. Celly also passed up tickets to the Installation Dinner for July 11.
