Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, October 4 through Saturday October 10, 2015. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.
Inspiration
"I doubt that the Lord cares much which honorable vocation you choose. But He does care if you love one another and serve one another." ~ Russell M. Nelson
One reason why we should all be Rotarians, to "serve one another." And perhaps the one thing we often overlook in Rotary is serving one another. Even Rotarians have difficulties in life and we may need to serve each other before we can best serve others.
Rotary 4-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.
Sing-Along Song - Dinah won't you blow your horn?"
As you sing "I've been working on the railroad all the livelong day," ask yourself if that's how you feel about your job? It seems more the 2/3 of employees do not like their job. Perhaps, it's time to consider something else. The Millenials seem to wander from one job to another--until they foind something they love to do. Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be).
Program
October is Vocational Vocational Service Month. and the Vocational Training Team {VTT} is a new program from Rotary Foundation of Rotary International that sends group of professionals to a one kind of vocation.
According to RI, "Vocational training teams offer a hands-on approach to vocational service. In VTTs, groups of professionals travel either to learn more about their vocation or to teach local professionals about a particular field. A VTT helps create sustainable change by strengthening the knowledge and skills of individuals and communities and thereby improving their capacity to serve. In addition to experiencing a new culture and fostering global connections, Rotarians participating in a vocational training team have the opportunity to make an impact long after their travels end. Teams that address one of Rotary’s six areas of focus and follow certain specific guidelines for scope, sustainability, and measurability can qualify for a global grant through The Rotary Foundation. Funded teams must consist of a minimum of one Rotarian team leader with general Rotary knowledge, leadership skills, international experience, and experience in the area of focus, and at least two other participants (Rotarians or non-Rotarians) with two years of work experience in the area of focus. Learn more and see complete guidelines for global grant-funded VTTs at www.rotary.org/grants." View the video directly above for an in-depth discussion of the new Vocational Training Team program.
