Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, December 20 through Saturday December 26, 2015. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.
Inspiration
"What is important is family, friends, giving back to your community and finding meaning in life." ~ Adrian Grenier. As a member of Rotary, we have the opportunity to extend our giving, not only to our community, but to the world.
Rotary 4-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.
Sing-Along Song - We wish you a Merry Christmas Song
Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be).
Fine Master
Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary FineMaster button to your right.
The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu
Program--Be a Gift to the World
Though this speech was delivered nearly a year ago at Rotary International's annual Assembly in San Diego, California when K.R. Ravindran was the President Elect, it is also appropriate to hear this speech now. Not only is his theme for the year, "Be a Gift to the World" quite appropriate at this time of the year; and since this is Rotary's Family Month, President Ravindran's speech is appropriate because he reflects on the Rotary family.
In choosing Be a Gift to the World as his theme for 2015-16, RI President K.R. "Ravi" Ravindran urges Rotary members to give the gifts of time, talent, and knowledge to improve lives in communities across the globe. "Through Rotary, we can take these gifts and make a genuine difference in the lives of others and in our world."
Watch for President Ravindran's one of several notable statements on the "difference between a handout and an outstretched hand" in his speech.
Club Business
We had a Christmas/Monthly meeting this week, Dec. 20 at Delfin's Hacienda. Photos available on our GKeRC-Members Facebook group.
Our president proposed Lydia F Soriano for membership. The board approved her proposal. After Lydia completes her membership application, the members will have the opportunity to vote on her candidacy for membership.
We will meet at the Orangewood facility on December 30. Ernie Delfin requested that members attending be at the facility by 10:00.
Remember we will be meeting our District Governor Elect and the Manila District Governor Elect on January 23. See details on the Calendar. Also, Ernie Delfin proposed that we have participate in a souvenir program to increase our fundraising.
