Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, February 7 through Saturday February 13, 2016. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.
Inspiration
As we celebrate Presidents Day this month in the U.S., we will have quotations from our presidents. "“Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.” ~ John F. Kennedy
Rotary 4-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.
Sing-Along Song—A Little Peace
A little peace from all of us could be the start of a worldwide peace. Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be).
Fine Master
Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary FineMaster button to your right.
The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu
Program— Teaching with the World Peace Game
February is Rotary's World Understanding Month. During World Understanding Month, Rotary clubs should be focusing on projects and programs that promote peace and reduce conflict in our communities and around the world.
As such, this video by John Hunter is but one of many projects communities are doing around the world to promote peace by placing the problems of the world on a 4'x5' plywood board -- and letting his 4th-graders solve them.
Club Business
Remember our potluck Monthly Meeting on February 27 at Rene's home.
All members, please check our Facebook Members' and Board groups and actively participate in our discussions. We have had an open discussion related to the Pechanga Casino trip for more than a week, "We have scheduled a bus trip to Pechanga in April. The board set up a choice of either Saturday, April 16 or April 30. We need 40 to fill the bus. Please select one of the options below keeping in mind which date would be the better date for you and your guests.", yet only 3 members from So. Calif. has indicated their preferred date.
