Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, February 28 through Saturday March 5,2016. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.

Inspiration

"The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." ~ Albert Schweitzer. That's what we do in Rotary. Have you noticed what Brian Tracy has said, "Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, 'What's in it for me?'" Let non-Rotarians know how to be successful and have them join our club. And since many wannabe successful people are busy, an e-club is an excellent way to be successful.

Rotary 4-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”

By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.

Sing-Along Song—A Song of Peace

Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be). Rotarians, worldwide strive for peace.

Fine Master

Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary FineMaster button to your right.

The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu

Program—Rotary Grants

With all due respect, our video producer video taped Rene Fruto's informative presentation; though the video was fine, the sound quality was quite poor. Near the end of his presentation, Rene discussed Rotary's Global Grants; therefore, in lieu of showing Rene's presentation, our video producer decided to offer two short videos on Global Grants.

This video, one of several Rotary in Action videos based in the Philippines, discusses how a Rotary club in Japan acquired a global grant to set up a Vocational Training Team project--a project we could possibly do in the Philippines or Mexico.

This video provides step by step information about how Rotary clubs can tap into the financial resources of the Rotary Foundation to finance Global Grants. It shows the sources of funds and their availability as matching dollars. The power of leveraging using matching dollars from the Foundation together with partnerships between Rotary Clubs within multiple district is illustrated with bar charts.SHOW MORE

Club Business

District 5320 is holding their District Assembly at Chapman University, Orange, CA, this Saturday, March 5.

Also on March 4 and5, Gawad Kalinga (our flagship project) is having their Summit in Los Angeles. This is a great opportunity to hear Tony Meloto updating the 200 plus GK heroes and supporters all over the USA about the 2nd phase of GK, on SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP and economic independence.. A few of the young (NEXT GEN) social entrepreneurs like Louie (a French young man who is now in the Enchanted Farms in Bulacan, raising chickens) will speak and inspire our people to go into SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP.Here is the link: http://www.gk1world.com/louis-faureConference

Too many members will be out of the area in April, and so, at our Monthly Meeting this past Saturday, we have postponed our Pechanga Casino bus trip until May.
