Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, March 6 through Saturday March 12, 2016. March is Rotary's Literacy Month and wWe are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.

Invocation for Literacy

Dear God, let us be thankful for the power unlocked by a brain decoding symbols. The ability to read gives the ability to advance beyond poverty, to learn what those near you do not know, to discover ideas that may be hidden, to unleash your potential. Let us be thankful for the literacy endeavours of Rotary, for changing the world one decoded alphabet at a time. Let us be thankful for our ability to read, and commit to embracing literacy initiatives. Let us provide the ability to change the world. Amen.

Rotary 4-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”

By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.

Sing-Along Song—Literacy Week Song

Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be).

Fine Master

Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary FineMaster button to your right.

The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu

Program—Improving Literacy in America

March is Rotary's Literacy Month. Sixty-seven million children worldwide have no access to education and more than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Rotary's goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.

Club Business

On Wednesday, March 9 we have the great honor to meet with Gawad Kalinga's founder Mr. Tony Meloto who will be our guest speaker at Kyoto Grill in Brea. Check our calendar for details.

Our next Monthly Meeting is scheduled for Sun, Mar 20 from 2 to 5; however, this is Palm Sunday. We have a request on our Facebook GKeRC-Members group to choose to meet on Sun, Mar 20 or Sat, Mar 19. We must confirm the day of our meeting soon.

Board members, though our Pechanga Casino has been postponed, we have an open motion on our Facebook GKeRC-Board group which needs to be 2nd (only one board member needs to 2nd the motion) and either passed, denied or amended.
