May is Rotary's Youth Service Month

Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, May 1 through Saturday May 7, 2016. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.

Rotary 4-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”

By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.

Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be).

Fine Master

Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary FineMaster button to your right.

The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu

Program—Rotary District 6460 - District Conference Video 2013

Last month, Rene sent Celly a letter reflecting the several projects the Greater Chino Hills Rotary club has accomplished. The letter, which posted on our Fecebook GKeRC-Members group states:

Celly,

Earlier GCHRC Club Pres. Ginny Mondonedo emailed to you a solicitation for a souvenir program ad for their Multicultural Festival.

I am enclosing a copy of their Multicultural Festival Plan to give you and the other members our club a bird's eye view of the scope of activities involved in this project. While the event will showcase the club in the Chino Hills community, it is also a fundraising event. That is why they are asking for ads in the souvenir program. The food booths put up by the various cultural (read ethnic) groups is also another source of revenue. The event is a festival and it is open to the public for free. Our members should attend this event so that they can pick up some ideas which our club can use.

You will also notice the list of club projects where the revenues from this event will be used, among which is a Global Grant application for 2 elementary schools in Quezon City. In the past they already did a Matching Grant project with the Dilliman North RC which provided 12 computers to Pasong Tamo Elementary School and 12 computers to Culiat Elementary School. Since the combined student population of these two schools number about 10,000 they are now requesting for more computers. Hence, the current Global Grant application which will provide 75 more computers to each of these schools.

This Global Grant application is for $33,500, of which GCHRC has to raise around $6,000. Per my discussion with Ginny, If our club supports them by way of an ad in the souvenir program, that donation will be applied to this GG, and therefore, if it is at least !00, it can be considered a Paul Harris Sustaining Membership contribution. My thought on this is, why don't we present this to the membership so that instead of our club just donating $100 to GCHRC, how about if members who want to be considered a Paul Harris Sustaining Member, they can give $100 each. In my case, I will give more than $100 because my current Paul Harris Sustaining Membership at The Rotary Foundation is nearing the $1,000 mark for my next Paul Harris Fellowship. I think this is how we should present this to the members at our next physical meeting on April 17. And let us encourage the members to attend this cultural festival and learn something on how the organizers do it.

Any thoughts on this, Guys?

May is Rotary's Youth Service Month. Though the video above highlights all sorts of projects for their District in the heartland of Illinois, many of the projects are youth related. Regardless, perhaps the list of projects
