Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, June 19 through Saturday June 25, 2016. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.
Inspiration
As we begin our summer let's reflect on what Thomas Wentworth Higginson said in 1861. "In our methodical American life, we still recognize some magic in summer. Most persons at least resign themselves to being decently happy in June. They accept June. They compliment its weather. They complain of the earlier months as cold, and so spend them in the city; and they complain of the later months as hot, and so refrigerate themselves on some barren sea-coast. God offers us yearly a necklace of twelve pearls; most men choose the fairest, label it June, and cast the rest away."
Rotary 4-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.

Fine Master
Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary Fine Master button to your right.
The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu
Program— The Science of Vacation
As we begin our traditional summertime vacation period, let's look at the Science of Vacation.
While many know the health benefits of vacation, many still don't take the steps necessary to reap the benefits. In this talk, Ian Cole discusses the scientific research behind vacations and provides a formula to increase the stress relief from your vacations.
Ian is a Vice President for Starwood Vacation Ownership where he works to improve the lives of over 220000 owner families both on and off vacation. He also has a passion for sharing his love of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics with his two sons and others through educational groups such as FamiLAB, Orlando's Hackerspace & Community Lab in Longwood, FL and by co-organizing Orlando Mini Maker Faire, an annual event where over 3000 people come together to celebrate hands-on innovation and invention.
