Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, July 31, through Saturday, August 6, 2016. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.
Inspiration
For those who are troubled and for those who have been abused, "We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us." — E. M. Forster
Rotary 4-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.
Sing-Along Song—Rotary
Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be).
Fine Master
Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary Fine Master button to your right.
The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu
Program— Domestic Violence
Rosemary Batty is an Australian domestic violence campaigner and the 2015 Australian of the Year. Her role as a campaigner began in 2014 after her 11 year old son Luke Batty was murdered by his father Greg Anderson. Yes, domestic violence can be deadly.
Mrs. Batty spoked at the Rotary's 2016 International Convention in Seoul, South. Korea.
Club Business
Art Azarcon led his first Southern California Monthly Meeting last Sunday, July 24. We had the great pleasure of having Ronnie Gamalinda, one of our members from the Philippines and our President Elect, to join us.
This past week, Rene Fruto has taken over the duties of the treasurer to the delight of Rillea Pax, the past treasurer, and Frank Adamo who maintained the books. And our immediate past president, Celly Adamo, was also quite delighted to have Art take over the club's leadership role.
Our Southern California Monthly Meetings will be on the 2nd Sunday from 1:30 to 4:00 at Marie Calender's in Buena Park. See details on the Calendar.
