Welcome to the Global Kalinga e-Rotary Club for the week of Sunday, November 20 through Saturday November 26, 2016. We are an Internet based Rotary Club based in Quezon City, Philippines with core groups of members in Southern California and elsewhere. We serve our local and nearby communities as well as projects in the Philippines.
Inspiration
As Thanksgiving approaches in the U.S.., "let us ponder the words of Swiss philosopher Henri Frederic Amiel: “Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.”May our acts as Rotarians demonstrate our gratitude for our blessings. For friendship, for health, for work, for opportunities to gather together, enjoy a meal, and change our community for the better." ~ (c) Shawn Bird 2011
Rotary 4-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
By building your team's self-esteem and encouraging them, the entire team becomes stronger.
Sing-Along Song—Family Thanksgiving Turkey Song - Ron Euliano
"Grandma stuffed the turkey, then the turkey sure stuffed us" Great family thanksgiving song for the holidays. Everyone can relate to this song in one way or another. I break down the entire thanksgiving day! From the dinner, to the desserts, and even football! An American tradition!
Take your time and sing-along (wherever you may be).
Here's a conbined story and another song about Thanksgiving. No lyrics, but understandable by one of Frank Adamo's favorite singers, Johnny Cash.
Brad Kennett, a Vietnam Veteranc, commented, "I remember seeing this on his show when I came home from Vietnam. I'm thankful I grew up in a house that loved him. Most people didn't know he spent 6 days in Vietnam putting on shows for us troops. Thank you Johnny. Happy Thanksgiving to all."
And whether you are in the States, Phililppines or elsewhere, God bless you all as we, in the U.S. give thanks for our blessings.
Fine Master
Traditionally, Rotary clubs have Fine Masters who are responsible for collecting fines/happy dollars. The clipart to your left is our e-club Fine Master. Do you have happy dollars, a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, opening a new business, new car, new child, new grandchild, etc. Please feel free (and perhaps obligated) to click on our Rotary Fine Master button to your right.
The minimum fine is $3.00 to ensure a sufficient amount to take care of the PayPal fee. The purpose of the fines can be viewed by clicking on [View Fines/Happy Dollars] from the [Weekly Meetings] main menu
